The CIRRUS HD-OCT 500 assists optometrists in the early diagnosis and detection of retinal conditions by studying high-resolution cross-sectional images of the retina. The OCT is a non-invasive diagnostic technique that renders an in vivo cross-sectional view or map of the retina that is accurate to within at least 10-15 microns. It provides substantial information about the retina (diabetic diseases), macula (ARMD), and the nerve fiber layer surrounding the optic nerve (glaucoma).
